KOKI NAKANO : New signature & New album

Japanese composer and pianist Koki Nakano joins the AFX roster and releases Oceanic Feeling on May 13, 2022 on No Format, an album that explores the fragile balance of life with intensity

Koki Nakano’s new album Oceanic Feeling celebrates ambiguity. The title borrows the expression coined by the French writer and musician Romain Rolland in 1927. In a letter to Sigmund Freud, Rolland describes the oceanic feeling as “an impression of eternity, a sensation of unity with the world around us. While this concept of unity permeates Nakano’s entire album, the music also evokes the artist’s inability to fully experience this famous oceanic feeling, reflecting his melancholy, his internal tensions, and his search for harmony within his own limitations
